Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs LXi

Welch Allyn Introduces A Fast, All-inclusive Spot-check Device

Welch Allyn, a leading manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, today introduced the Spot Vital Signs LXi, the industry's fastest multi-parameter spot-check device that can be customized for use in a variety of clinical settings. Its speed comes from Welch Allyn's proprietary SureBP(TM) blood pressure technology, which measures on inflation, taking accurate blood pressure readings in approximately 15 seconds--about half the time of any other spot-check device available today. Spot Vital Signs LXi offers the latest blood pressure, temperature, and SpO2 technology as well as a number of other features including manual weight, height, respiration rate, and pain level entry; connection to select digital weight scales; Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation; and connectivity to Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).

"In today's demanding healthcare environment providers don't have time to search for multiple pieces of equipment to capture vitals," says Michelle McGrath, group product manager, Electronic Vital Signs at Welch Allyn. "They need a single, simple and flexible device that can capture data faster, easier and more reliably. Spot LXi dramatically reduces the amount of time it takes to take readings and transfer them to records, which means providers have more time to spend with their patients."

While Welch Allyn's SureBP technology comes standard on all Spot LXi devices, it also offers SureTemp® Plus fast predictive thermometry which gives providers the option of performing oral, pediatric axillary, adult axillary or rectal temperature readings, or they can choose the Braun ThermoScan® PRO 4000 thermometer to obtain temperature readings from the ear. The device also offers several configuration options to providers, enabling them to customize the device to suit their specific needs. They may also select either Masimo® or Nellcor® pulse oximetry technologies to measure SpO2.

In addition to capturing accurate vital signs, Spot Vital Signs LXi will offer wired or wireless connectivity to EMRs, reducing the chance for data entry omissions or errors. Data can then be pulled from the device into patient charts via a USB connection. In a wireless environment, a barcode scanned from a wristband links the patient to the vital signs and a wireless radio will send the data directly into the facility's EMR. The device also has a 50-reading memory that allows providers to retrieve previous data, print it or download it at a later time. Spot LXi can be used on a mobile stand, mounted on a wall, or placed on a desktop.

"Spot LXi captures more data and offers more parameters than the typical spot-check device, yet it is still easy to use," added McGrath. "Its versatility and intuitive design help providers avoid many of the situations that can lead to inaccurate measurements, like imperfect technique and managing multiple devices. And the EMR connectivity capability reduces the possibility of transcription errors that can easily happen to even the best-trained, conscientious healthcare provider. Simply put, it offers more than patient data--it offers provider solutions."

Welch Allyn Macroview Otoscope

Welch Allyn Launches MacroView Otoscope

Skaneateles Falls, N.Y., ― Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, today announced the launch of the MacroView(TM) Otoscope, a hand-held otoscope with an innovative new design that gives healthcare providers a panoramic view of the ear. Featuring 30 percent more magnification than traditional otoscopes, a nearly full view of the tympanic membrane, and an adjustable focusable eyepiece, the MacroView Otoscope can help healthcare providers to make faster, easier, and more accurate diagnostic decisions.

"The sleek new design and groundbreaking technology of the MacroView mark a major advancement in handheld otoscopy," said Cindy Kuiper, Welch Allyn product manager. "Healthcare providers now have a tool that actually makes an examination more precise and efficient without changing the way they already use conventional otoscopes. At this point, the MacroView stands above the rest for general assessment of the ear."

According to Kuiper, performing otoscopy is a standard procedure during a general medical examination, particularly for children. The MacroView Otoscope's advanced optical system and increased field of view provides a dramatic result in terms of the detail the practitioner can see in and around the tympanic membrane. The significance of this enhanced view is most appreciated when diagnosing otitis media or examining patients who have tubes in their ears. In addition, the MacroView eliminates the need for a doctor to pan in the ear during an otoscopic exam, which greatly improves the comfort level for the patient, Kuiper said. The affordable new scope conveniently works with all existing Welch Allyn 3.5v power sources.

Beaverton, Ore., USA, -- Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, today introduced its new Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitor 300 Series, a full-featured patient monitor that enhances clinician productivity by providing automated vital signs before, during and after medical procedures. AED Defibrillators from Welch Allyn

New Defibrillators Make Saving A Life As Simple As 1-2-3

Buffalo Grove, Ill., USA, -- Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, now offers a new line of automated external defibrillators (AED), the AED 10 and AED 20, which both feature an intuitive design to guide virtually any rescuer through a cardiac emergency. Using text messages, voice prompts and instructional illustrations, the AED's automatically determine if a lifesaving shock is required, yet protect against inappropriate delivery of electrical current to the patient. Intended for easy operation and quick deployment, the AED 10 and AED 20 use the simple "1-2-3" rescue approach--a proven life-saving protocol used throughout the world.

"We want to make AEDs easy-to-use for ordinary people, reducing the time to deliver a first shock, which may mean the difference in saving a life," said Adrian Alvarez, Welch Allyn's director of marketing for defibrillation products. "For every minute that goes by without receiving a defibrillation shock, survival rates decrease by up to 10 percent, and it usually takes an EMS team six to 12 minutes to arrive at the scene."

Featuring the latest advances in defibrillation technology, Welch Allyn's AED 10 is the ideal device for very basic response. Clear audible instructions and visual prompts on a large high-resolution display, as well as a color-coded defibrillation pad are among the features that make the AED 10 easy to use by minimally trained first responders. The unit, which weighs only 3.5 pounds, can be housed in a quick deployment configuration that may include a compact wall cabinet, mounting bracket, or wall rack to meet a facility's specific storage needs. One high performance lithium battery powers the AED 10. The device is backed by a five-year limited warranty that includes loaner service.

Welch Allyn's AED 20 combines technology and versatility with optional manual defibrillation and optional "Lead II" monitoring with traditional snap-based electrodes. The AED 20's automatic analysis, joule selection and charging are ideal for both basic and skilled medical personnel. Its lightweight, yet rugged design offers durable performance and advanced features. The device is backed by a five-year limited warranty that includes loaner service. The device optional manual defibrillation and optional single channel monitoring with diagnostic ECG waveform display are ideal for the medically trained and advanced rescue responder.

In addition to AEDs, Welch Allyn also manufactures and markets a complete line of sophisticated crash cart defibrillators, AED parts and multi-parameter monitors for the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest and related cardiopulmonary emergency events.
