Braun ThermoScan® PRO 4000 Ear Thermometer Unveiled

San Diego, Calif., USA, -- Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, today introduced the Braun ThermoScan® PRO 4000, the only electronic ear thermometer with a preheated probe and sensor for reliable temperature readings on patients of all ages. Its exclusive ExacTemp(TM) technology provides an active user feedback system to ensure proper positioning and improved accuracy in calculating temperatures. The product is available as of February 1, 2005.

"With the click of a button, the Braun ThermoScan PRO 4000 offers clinicians the most advanced technology available," said Whitney Bouma, Welch Allyn senior product manager. "It's lightweight and comfortable to hold, which is essential for taking temperatures on young patients."

One of the fastest thermometers ever developed for infant to adult patients, the Braun ThermoScan PRO 4000 is an affordable electronic vital signs device that can withstand the constant use in a medical practice or hospital setting. The lightweight unit features a prominent memory button to recall the last temperature reading from a patient. There is a convenient storage space for 20 probe covers with an optional base station that holds an additional sleeve of 200 probe covers. It also features electronic security enhancements that discourage theft in more volatile hospital environments.

Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs LXi

Jun 8, 2012 5:25:29 PM

Welch Allyn Introduces A Fast, All-inclusive Spot-check Device

Welch Allyn, a leading manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, today introduced the Spot Vital Signs LXi, the industry's fastest multi-parameter spot-check device that can be customized for use in a variety of clinical settings. Its speed comes from Welch Allyn's proprietary SureBP(TM) blood pressure technology, which measures on inflation, taking accurate blood pressure readings in approximately 15 seconds--about half the time of any other spot-check device available today. Spot Vital Signs LXi offers the latest blood pressure, temperature, and SpO2 technology as well as a number of other features including manual weight, height, respiration rate, and pain level entry; connection to select digital weight scales; Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation; and connectivity to Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).

"In today's demanding healthcare environment providers don't have time to search for multiple pieces of equipment to capture vitals," says Michelle McGrath, group product manager, Electronic Vital Signs at Welch Allyn. "They need a single, simple and flexible device that can capture data faster, easier and more reliably. Spot LXi dramatically reduces the amount of time it takes to take readings and transfer them to records, which means providers have more time to spend with their patients."

While Welch Allyn's SureBP technology comes standard on all Spot LXi devices, it also offers SureTemp® Plus fast predictive thermometry which gives providers the option of performing oral, pediatric axillary, adult axillary or rectal temperature readings, or they can choose the Braun ThermoScan® PRO 4000 thermometer to obtain temperature readings from the ear. The device also offers several configuration options to providers, enabling them to customize the device to suit their specific needs. They may also select either Masimo® or Nellcor® pulse oximetry technologies to measure SpO2.

In addition to capturing accurate vital signs, Spot Vital Signs LXi will offer wired or wireless connectivity to EMRs, reducing the chance for data entry omissions or errors. Data can then be pulled from the device into patient charts via a USB connection. In a wireless environment, a barcode scanned from a wristband links the patient to the vital signs and a wireless radio will send the data directly into the facility's EMR. The device also has a 50-reading memory that allows providers to retrieve previous data, print it or download it at a later time. Spot LXi can be used on a mobile stand, mounted on a wall, or placed on a desktop.

"Spot LXi captures more data and offers more parameters than the typical spot-check device, yet it is still easy to use," added McGrath. "Its versatility and intuitive design help providers avoid many of the situations that can lead to inaccurate measurements, like imperfect technique and managing multiple devices. And the EMR connectivity capability reduces the possibility of transcription errors that can easily happen to even the best-trained, conscientious healthcare provider. Simply put, it offers more than patient data--it offers provider solutions."
